I been trying to learn as much as I can about dieting I have been eating clean for about two weeks basmati rice, sweet potato, talapia, salmon and mix nuts etc but my question is I bought a scale and I would like to know how much food are you to consume and must your food be weight up or should I just eat away and grow?.

PS. I also don't want to get discourage that is why I picked a list of food that I can enjoy eating and not break my diet.

Your post is confusing. U meantion wanting to learn about dieting at 1st. Then ask about bulking at the end.

To me dieting is cutting /losing weight.

what do you want to do. Lose weight or bulk up?

Just eat. And eat more. Grow big. Get huge. That's if your not like 25% bf.

If your fat then cut most carbs out for a while. Get some good sprinting sessions in 3 times a week, lift properly and watch your calories. Losing weight is a matter of cals in VS Cals out. Simple.

Your post needs more details on goals.

Sorry about that like I said I am just trying to consume as much information as possible about dieting and eating right. I am trying to bulk up but I don't want to consume foods that are not good for me or get tired because I might not be able to eat like I am suppose to.

basically I am 5.6 165lbs body fat @12% according to my caliper my previous weight was 175lbs back in June I would like to get as high as 180 but I want to bulk up lean but when I go and research I see a lot of post referencing 5 ounce of this meat or 1 lb of this meat etc etc. is it a must to weight your food or can I just eat away as long as I am eating the right foods through out my day.

PS I hope I don't sound confusing again.

We are nearly the same build. I'm also 5' 6" 175 lbs.

Ok since u wanna bulk u are on the right track with your food choices. I don't use a scale to weigh my good. I use k.i.s.s. aka keep it simple stupid. If I'm trying to bulk I eat an extra meal or 2. If I wanna cut I eliminate those meals.

For bulking I try to eat every 2-3 hours. I adjust cals 250-500 cals daily to find that sweet spot of gaining weight but not fat.
For me if I force feed myself I start putting on more fat then muscle weight. I go by eating more when I'm hungry again and depending on what I ate last.....I find that hunger hits me about every 2-3 hours.

I don't have the time to weigh out my food. I'm not doing a show and feel that's when the scale for food would be needed.

Here is at the end of my last cycle. Was pretty lean and 175 here. No cardio....well besides sex lol.

To me it sounds like you need to learn a few things. Read a bit about macro nutrition and calories in vs calories out. From my experience and professional consultations over the years, finding what is right FOR YOU is key. We all dial in differently. For example, someone may gain lbm with a lower calorie diet then you and/or their macro make up may also be different (50/45/15 vs you at 45/35/10). We are all different my friend!

Suggest eating regular meals (6 a day) lean meats, starchy carbs like oats, potatoes, rice, etc. Add healthy fats to your meals such as virgin olive oil, Mac nut oil, walnuts, almonds, coconut oil and many more... :-). You need to gauge yourself every week and take pictures weekly to assess body progression.

So much to talk about here but need run. :)

I have notice that eating the way I have been eating every 2 hours I am more hungry then when I ate just twice a day but I like it because when ever the hunger strikes I bring like 3 meals with me to work and in between I have a fruit or mixed veggies I also keep a bag if mixed nuts at work which I consume through out the day. I like your k.i.s.s approach I think I will follow that as long as I am consuming the right foods on my plate.

Thanks bro. I admit the holidays got the better of me. I was doing a lean bulk and watched what I ate almost all yr. when the holidays came around I ate whatever I wanted. I didn't get to far gone but my abs are def not that cut up right now lol.

To the original poster. I find if I follow these simple macro rules it helps to keep a nice lean bulk going. I got this from Larry Scott
Your meals should be like this.
Protein the size of your hand with fingers included.
Carbs the size of your palm
Fats half your palm.

I find if I eat oats, brown rice sweet potato,Quinoa as my carbs with some lean protein for all my meals I can keep nice and lean while adding lean mass.
