View Full Version : What time do you train???...

I train BJJ either at noon or the evening and I lift in the afternoon. I'm not much of an early riser so I wouldn't train early in the am. I'm also lucky in that I work for myself so I can make my own hours.

So lets hear it... when you do you train and is it the time you prefer to train or are you forced to train during that time???

Afternoon. I dont like heavy or for that matter any kind of weight training early in the a.m. if it can be helped. I just dont think your bones and joints are ready for you quite yet after being supine all night.

I work out in the morning when I'm on day shift and in the afternoon when I'm on night shift.(work rotating shifts 1week days next week nights then back to days)

Sunday or monday its whenever I find the time. Wed/Friday 7:30pm-8:30pm

With kids and my busy ass life....I get in anytime I can....but mostly evening after 7.....there are a lot less people to deal with if you show up after 7

That is true. You miss all the people who come in immediately after work. I do workout sometimes late in the evenings especially if it's a very heavy day. I need to be able to use my chalk, turn the music to someone harder and make it louder, and just be able to make some noise while I lift.

Early morning (5 am) before work. This is the only time I can be certain I will get my workout in.

I go work out when I can. I have been there around midnight, about 4 AM, around noon and about 5 PM. What ever works for that day. If I got to pick a time Id go around 2 or 3 PM. I usually scare the other people enough that I dont have any problems when ever I go. lol, If they talk to me they find out Im probably the most polite person in the gym but dont mess with my work out. Thats a big no no.

I usually go in the mornings since I worked 2nd shift. Right now it's in the evenings because I'm training for a different job.

I have my own nice setup so I train whenever I want but it's usually right after work.

I'd love to have my own spot but that's because I have 2 other people I train with. I couldn't train by myself though.

I usually go to the gym around 8:30 pm. It sucks but I make it work. Now days ya kinda have to do what ya have to do! I just wish there was 34 hours in a day because 24 just isn't enough!

Usually I end up Jogging up to the gym around noon and working out from 1pm to 2:30pm

Around 5:30 after work. Just walk out into my garage and get after it. A couple of neighbors I have met started working out with me now too. Good for spotting and the camaraderie. I should start charging for monthly memberships!!

Same here Kaz in terms of hating mornings. I have a few old sports injuries and it takes me a few hours to work the kinks out each day. I have tried lifting in the morning a few times in the past and my strength is way down versus evenings.

12-8 pm for just over an hour any later and I start dropping ...any earlier I am useless...
remember trying to workout at 7 am once ..did a set of flies and you know how sometime one side seems heavier than the other ..
well I had 65 in on hand and 70 in the other ...so it was ... I never could get the right rhythm in morning ..the only thing I can do is aerobics
I can do trend mill until I am awake LOL

Rather train at night 7-9. But working shift work I just go when I can.

WOW Im amazed that you guyz can train that late at night and still get to sleep. If I did that I would be wide awake till sunrise.

It's definitely a little weird at first because you don't have someone to push you and spot for you but you just have to push yourself and when it comes to spotting I have a second set of pins to re-rack low when I can't get a full rep in as well as I don't use collars so if worse comes to worse I can slide the plates off one side (nothing that can break is around). All in all though I love it cuz I don't have to worry about any asshats fucking around when I'm trying to get a workout in.

When I was still going to Lifetime I'd usually train from 9pm-11pm get home shower and knock out quick. I'm usually exhausted after I train so falling asleep isn't a problem.

Preference is 12-2. Usually stuck going at 5/6PM. Cardio done in the AM.

Not fixed time whenever I feel free from my work and homework..
But evening time is best for me because I mostly do this in the evening..
Sunday is chill day not for training..
