I stumbled accross this on another site but it is dam good info for anybody considering this type of training. For us older guyz I really think you should give this a go and see how it works for you.

Awesome post brother...looking at this now, that leg routine you had Nikki and I on for that 8 weeks worked great too...but this can be incorporated currently into our program...I think OD just recommended this to me also lol, great minds think alike!!!

Within the last 3 weeks started a 5x5 Program. Little revised tho.

Push 5x5
Pull 5x5
Legs 5x5

All compound movements three days a week and all different movements. Seeing shocking results. Honestly for me its rapid growth. That low rep range seems to be my sweet spot but also high sets as well. Anyone think the GVT would b just as good? It looks so intriguing and pretty similar in a few ways.

Going to use it for all body parts...I do these once in a while in my garage gym...pick incline presses and just do 10 sets of 10 reps and by the 7 set the muscles are so full of blood and pumped it is painful...LOVE IT!!!

The 10x10 can be very effectively combined with the 5x5. It is called Block Training. For both modules you use straight weights for your work sets. That means no adding or subtracting weight. If you cant do the full amount of sets then you keep that weight till you can. Tempo is not too important in this kind of graining. Each module would last from 5-8 weeks. Then a week off and go on to the other module. Sound interesting to anyone?

Eh, Gvt isn't well rounded enough for me and it kills strength. Almost the same volume, more variety with exercises, lower reps per set = Max-OT.

Low reps, high volume. Max-OT, basically. Juicers best friend and program.

I like the overall concept of 10X10 but I see alot of holes in the program personally. Some of which, only 3 sets of calves, mine are stubborn and need more, 10 sets for bi's and tri's but only 6 for shoulders, Phase 2 leg day 20 sets of hams 0 direct quad work.

Way too much volume for me to recover.

I did my own version of poliquins GVT over a year ago and got pretty lean while putting on a decent amount of muscle. Also increased my strength some. I did it like this.
Week1 10*10, week2 increase weights-10*10, week3 increase 10*8, week4 increase 10*8, week 5 increase 10*8, week6 10*6, week
7 increase 10*4, week8 increase 10*4.

Kept the core lifts the same throughout but changed my accessories to keep it interesting.

Max OT is a gr8 system as long as you are un-injured and young enough to recover when injuries occur. For me the 10x10 works out very well using lighter weight and higher volume keeps my many old injuries in a happier state, less painful by far. So lesson learned, what ever works for you is what is best for you but it wont last forever. We always have to change it up in some way to keep it all working.

I get stronger from volume training. I alternate w low reps and high weight ever few weeks. When I switch back to high weight fromhigh volume, I can always lift more.

Das klingt mir sehr interessant! Lol! Couldn't help it, bro. It just seemed appropriate to reply in german. I'm not finished with my current routine ATM but as soon as I feel it's time for a change I think I'll give this a go.
