Nutrition and Supplements, how they play a role in bodybuilding

You need to understand that bodybuilding is not just a hobby to which you dedicate 1 to 2 hours of your day by going to the gym. It is a lifestyle, and you need to live every minute of your day as a bodybuilder to excel. Whether you are eating, sleeping, working out, sitting in your office or doing something else, you will always have to think what’s best for your fitness. A bodybuilder would take stairs instead of the elevator, would drink fruit juice instead of soda at a party, and would lift the heavy item in his hand instead of putting it in the shopping cart. So, before you put your body into bodybuilding, first put your mind into it.

Many people waste months in desperately finding a shortcut to a perfect body. But they are unable to find it because there is no such shortcut. If you want your body to be fit and look strong, you need to do hard work, a lot of hard work. And the hard work is not just physical. There is mental work too. In fact, bodybuilding is more about mental strength than it is physical. You will need mental strength to follow a proper diet and routine. Only going to the gym and lifting weights would not get you the results you desire. You might be able to get some positive changes, but the physique that you see in wallpapers and videos will never be yours without dedication.

According to many studies, nutrition is much more important than training. In fact, the more accurate studies say that diet is 70%, and workout is 30% important for bodybuilding. So, to get 100% results, you need to give 70% importance to diet and 30% importance to workout. But if you want more than 100% results, if you want to take it beyond the limits, then you need to add another thing to your bodybuilding equation: supplements.

The role of nutrition

A proper diet comprising of all the necessary nutrients is very important to help you body grow in the right way. Good nutrition is not just about eating anything and everything that comes into your vision. You will have to be very careful about what you eat, and your diet should be inspired from what you expect. For instance, if you want a bulky body then you should be consuming a lot of carbs and protein if you want a lean body you should consume protein good fats and less carbs.Every nutrient is a different function. For instance, proteins are responsible for muscle growth and iron is responsible for strength. This doesn’t mean that if you just want muscle growth then you should only be consuming proteins. You diet should contain all the nutrients, but you increase the quantity of one and decrease the other according to your needs. Let’s now discuss some tips that can help you improve your nutrition.

Eat more times in small quantities.
You might know already that it is better for your body to have 5 to 7 meals a day at regular intervals. The first meal of the day should be within an hour after you wake up, and the last one should be an hour before you sleep.

Eating is not for filling up your stomach.
Do not completely stuff your stomach whenever you eat. You might be feeling very hungry after the workout, but do not eat too much. Remember that you will be having another meal just after a couple of hours. Also, you should not stay hungry for long. If you are feeling hungry and you next meal is schedules to just after 15 minutes, then you can wait. But do not stay hungry for an hour or so. And keep in mind that here hunger means that your body needs food, not just your tongue.

The role of supplements

You must have seen people pooping pills and giving themselves injections because they read on some bodybuilding forum to do so. Those are the people that confuse supplements with steroids. Supplements mean the protein-rich products that provide you with some extra muscle growth, stamina and motivation. These products are helpful in making you body achieve more than it is capable of, and that’s what bodybuilding is about. Steroids on the other hand mess with your body’s internal functions. But, do not think that these protein rich products are going to improve your physique without proper nutrition and training. Also, do not consume these products in more quantity than you require.

The supplements can be divided into different categories like the ones taken before workout, during a workout and after the workout. Consult an expert to know which one would be better for you. It depends on what you have and what you want. And no matter what anyone says, do not take more than one type.
