Ok so I'm wondering if my body is retarded or anyone else can relate, on training days if I eat well during the day and I train I feel like I'm lacking energy as well as strength, now if i dont eat much throughout the day on training days I feel more energy and strength while I train. I've tried many different things like adjusting the amount of carb intake, and protien intake as well time of day for each and water intake but no change. I've always been this way and I don't know why. Anyway just wondering if anyone has experienced this.

What are u eating before the gym? How close timing wise as well please ie do u eat 30 minutes before.

I use to eat either a banana and peanut butter sandwich on whole grain or Ezekiel bread, or a banana and a bowl of plain oats, or a plain whole grain or Ezekiel and turkey sandwich 30-60 minutes prior to training but didn't feel good. I feel the best if I don't eat anything 3-4 prior. So basically I wake up and have a banana, 2 hard boiled eggs, and protien shake, 2 hours later I have a peanut butter sandwich (been eating that p28 peanut butter lately) with 2 string cheese, about 3 hours later I have my lunch which varies from chicken breast black beans and wild rice, or tuna salad, or chicken salad, or skirt steak black beans and wild rice, or if I forget lunch I order a #14 unwich (means no bread) with no mayo add hot peppers from jimmy johns. Then I train 3-4 hours later and have a protein shake afterwards, I have a tbsp of peanut butter and a string cheese before I go to sleep.

I must add if I get hungry at work I snack on unsalted sunflower seeds, almonds or walnuts and some raisins

Fatty! Lol raisins the high glycemic treat. Prob not enough to matter. Just busting balls.

Anyways I don't train well If i've eaten a meal too close to training. However on the flip side ...no way I could train 3-4 hours after I ate and have a good workout. Body is depleted and wanting calls big time by then.....for me anyways.

I will eat one of my wife's homemade granola bars, a cliff bar etc about 6 pm then I have a carb and protein shake about 7:30 then at gym by 8 pm.

I've tried many things over the years and I like the karbokyn, protein(isolate) and bcaa shake 30 minutes or so before I train. Also have used gu, or powerbar. Carb style pouches and a protein shake instead of karbokyn.

This is find to be a great way to get 300 or so calls into me fast, no heavy digestion, perfect fuel of 50 grams carbs, 25 protein. I find just like the karbokyn says that 1 scoop(50 grams carbs) is good for 1 hr of strenuous work.

My workouts are always pretty damn good except on days I'm just dead tired before I even get to the gym.

I would one day like to find a good natural meal vs the karbolyn but I haven't found it yet. I do eat lots of raw oats but never found it as good at the carb/protein shake.

Don't use waxy maize it sucks a sick. Karbolyn is boss. There's another one cyclic dextrin or something like that but haven't tried it yet.

Anyways that's my $0.02. U are simply depleted energy/food wise IMHO giving u the lack of gusto during training by not eating for 3-4 hrs pre training.
On the flip side I recall reading by eating a meal before u train lots of blood and body energy is focused on processing the food and working the stomach etc.

I haven't used karbolyn. Yeah I know you're supposed to eat along closer to training than I do but for whatever reason I don't feel good when I do regardless of what it is even with a preworkout drink. Protien shakes get me gassy so I only take them in the morning and after training. I don't know though I think my body is just fucked up lol honestly when I train on an empty stomach I train damn hard and don't lose energy and I feel strong. Who knows though it could just be a mental thing because I feel full when I eat before hand I don't know.

Ok few things. Sounds like u are lactose intolerant. I suggest trying a whey isolate only shake as they are usually lactose free or very low lactose. Or better yet try beef isolate. I'll be honest though while some of the muscle meds carnivore line of beef shakes taste good the other brands are utter shit flavored and even the carnivore ones still can't compare to a good tasting whey shake.

Took me ages to find I don't do well with dairy and protein shakes was a food that helped me realize this fact. I can eat diary but it jacks with me more often then not and ESP with protein shakes. I've tried plenty that have enzymes and other hype but the best my stomach ever did with whey shakes is bsn syntha 6.
Egg is also a good alternative but again tastes off, not fast to digest and if u drink enough farts that will knock a buzzard off a shit wagon!

I totally agree and feel ya bro. If I eat any meal around training time i feel sluggish and weighted down etc. I don't feel it's in your head.

I don't like pre workout shakes and most of them don't have carbs they just have stimulants and bcaa most stims give me terrible workouts. I'm all jittery and amped but feel weak and depleted and not focused. Some pre workouts I do enjoy from time to time but I still take my karbokyn with it.

Dextrose and maltodextrin are better for insulin spiking post workout and do bloat most ppl but can be a karbokyn alternative.

Hmm I'll have to look at trying those out then. I've never thought I was lactose intolerant because I eat dairy products all the time without much issue but maybe I am.

I eat about an hour before I workout. Either a 6oz chicken sandwich with 2 slices of cheese or for the past 2 weeks I have been eating home made 7oz hamburger with 2 slices of cheese. The burgers rock! I do fill full when I go to workout, but if I dont eat before, I will be starving by the time I get done!

I eat about an hour hour and a half before gym oats and eggs low calorie but high in carb and protein. Then I take about a spoonful of honey right before and after gym helps my blood sugar and gives some good natural energy. Highly recommend !

I generally train at 4:00 am so eating isn't a likely thing for me pre-training. I usually get my coffee, (1) D4, and my pre-workout(2 scoops C4/15 grams L-glutamine powder/1 scoop Elastijoint) then I'm good to go for about 2 hrs. I do drink a light protein shake/carbs(1 scoop Pro Complex/1/2 scoop Karbolyn/15 grams L-glutamine powder/1 scoop Elastijoint) post-workout though, and begin my daily meals 1 hr after my post-workout shake.

Here's what I recently discovered that's a good pre-workout enhancer...

50mg Anadrol (strength)
ECA stack (energy & fat burning)... will make you sweat like you won't believe
100mg Provigil (endurance)
30mg Cialis (stamina)
along with a protein shake

During workout is just some plain old H2O with electrolytes. Post-workout is sports drink with BCAA's, Glutamine, Creatine, and L-Carnitine. The sugar and electrolytes help replenish the glycogen in muscle tissue to speed up recovery. Learned that trick-of-the-trade in the 90's!
