refinance the mortage-- invsion of privacy

well 3 years ago I finally bought.. paid for points and got 4.62% who knew it would go down from there. Anyhow been debating for a while and finally my credit union gave a different option in a 20 year.. for some unknown reason a 20 year is usually the almost the same rate as a 30 and if you go to 15 it drops significantly .. So when they had a 20 at 3.25 .. I jumped .. that basically meant the same payment just 7 years off.. just pay the closing cost .. and fees. Last week I filled out on line and they locked me in..good thing too it went up Monday to 3.625 .

Anyhow I get home Monday and my phone logs numbers that I don't answer.. no messages on the machine just 15 calls .. and as I am going through the list of calls the phone rings and it is one of the callers.. I pick it up out of curiosity..

the person on the line say " I see that you are looking at refinancing ..thinking it is my CU I continue.. OK we are going to ask some questions ... no SSN , huh? they have that

confirms some basic data.. and then says , let me hand you to a mortgage specialist..
what kind of mortgage are you looking at ...
I ask at this point ,"wait are you from ( credit union name)..Ahh no ... I am from ( mortgage company) we are looking to offer you options .. hmm well that is going to be difficult since I already don't trust you and don't know who the hell you are ..
I am sorry we didn't clarify that at first.. yadda yadda .. and told me who he was and etc..

How did you happen to call me?.. well the credit company pulls names that are looking for a new mortgage and sends them to me .Wow that is a slight invasion of privacy. I wonder what other reports the credit companies are sharing with sales men..

Well to get him off the phone I asked.. I am looking for a 20 no points ,what is your rate.. and closing cost .. 3.75 and that was with points so that goes higher ..he was not even close.. I told him that ..and when I told him what I have .. I knew that would be the last call from him any way.. So for last couple days I have been picking up the phone with strange numbers and answering 20 year fix no points what you got...

when it comes to salesman the only way to get rid of them is to prove they have no hope at all...

this does explain the Car ads increasing as my Jeep hits the 7 year mark.. I am sure they are pulling a credit report for that .

My daughter bought right on top the market and her loan was around 4 points.400 K home-so mid range-not bad.Hubby lost job-etc etc-same as many out there so they were struggling. She kept trying to qualify for this government backed loan at 1 % -no points or closing. Her phone rang off the hook with salesmen saying they could do it for anywhere from 2 grand to 5 grand fee.She ended up paying one outfit 2 K and got nowhere.
I finally heard about it as she wasn't telling dear ole Dad and I called a friend in the biz.She ended up with the 1 % loan-no points etc-but not thru one of thse outfits that charge this fee.Her phone rang all day with those guys so I knew they were selling the list !!Not exactly same as yours -but same crap.Best of luck-OD

that whole supposed refi deal that the banks were "forgiving" debt... well that was the biggest load of crap on the planet.. first it was the focus of anger for everyone that pays their bills.( can you blame them). So you hear about people complaining.. I pay my bills and these looser refi at a cheaper rate etc... well the truth is the banks were not giving out these loans.. just telling people they were doing it .. they set up the rules, and people would call that hotline..and then they were refused.. why cause the banks were making more of the forclosure .. they didn't own the loans.. they just managed the loan.. every time they did any thing they charged a fee..

who wants to fix a loan when they can keep it crippled and make money off it
