    Knowing when to stop?

I was training biceps today and after to isolated movements I went to do hammer curls which which I can usually work up to like 70lb DB and I couldn't even hit the 40lb DB. Should I call it quits for the day and figure my biceps just got a great pump already? Or should I drop the weight and burn it out and finish my usual routine for that day? My arms where pumped about to tear the skin but I felt I would be depriving them compared to normal. So my question is should I have called it good or lowered weight and continued to train?

Biceps are a very small muscle group....and they take a lot of abuse on back e resizes as well....I don't do a whole lot for my biceps....probable 3 light warm up sets and 3 e resizes at 2 sets apiece

Yeah I usually do three movements 4 sets each, but today after 2 movements they were telling me they had enough.

Yeah I've gone crazy with then and like any muscle more doesn't mean more growth. 12 sets total is plenty for biceps IMHO. All about the hard contraction and good stretch at the bottom for biceps.

Battled this for years. Sometimes you just have to say enough is enough. There are days I need more sets, other days I am fried on a few. I am finally embracing instinctive lifting versus my hardcore preplanned routine.

Now u got it buddy! No 2 sessions are the same for me. I can eat the same thing, go the same time, same exercise and some days I feel like a god...other days hardly the case.

I never do 3 exercises for biceps but than again I'm not a bodybuilder. Your biceps are only a 1/3 of your arm so make sure you're really hitting your triceps. And of course more isn't better.

Here's something to think about. Deadlift more and guess what.... your biceps will grow.
