Today I have a heavy heart as one of my soldier passed away yesterday. He went swimming with one of other soldier's to get a workout as they were preparing for ranger school. They were swimming out to a bouey and my soldier said he was tired about mid way and decided to head back while my other one kept going. Well he never made it back to shore as he headed back and gassed out and began to take in water and drowned. My other soldier didn't see what was happening as he waz still swimming and when he got back to shore he asked where my other one was. Everyone thought they were still with each other and begin to look for him and called 911. An off duty officer heard the call as he was headed home and literally was 10mins away. They fished him and resuscitated him but he had been under water for 10mins. I drove almost a 100 mph to the hospital and the doctors said it didn't look good as there was no brain activity. At 2:20am the nurse ran up to me and I knew that something wasn't right as I couldn't leave him there alone. His lungs had filled up with blood and heart rate plummeted him into cardiac arrest. I watched them try and get his heart to start for 25mins. I couldn't do anything but stand there and cry. I kept yelling for him to fight boy. Finally they stopped and pronounced him dead. He is the type of soldier u get once in a career. The very best. Was as if I was watching my own child die. Please pray for his family and my platoon as they are devastated. My soldier, my son rest in peace.
