Pro bodybuilder Rich Piana was placed into a medically induced coma this week after suffering a medical emergency at his Florida home, law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports.
46-year-old Piana has competed and won several bodybuilding competitions over the years -- including Mr. California -- and has become an Instagram sensation, racking up more than 1 million followers.
Law enforcement sources tell us ... emergency personnel responded to a possible overdose call at Piana's home on Monday afternoon. When they arrived, Piana was unresponsive and was transported to a nearby hospital where he was placed into a medically induced coma.
Unclear how he's doing now. We're working on the story.
Sad that some people do so much to their bodies that enough is never really enough.

This has been a hot topic. Poor rich. Doesn't sound good. Ive heard he fell and hit his head in the bathroom and was unresponsive since.
He helped get some buzz in the BB lifestyle and showed ppl what it's all about.
Hope he pulls through.

my understanding is they induce a coma for some sort of brain swelling... as a result it could be anything from stroke , infection, or injury .
either way pulling for Rich.. hope we get an update soon..

Dallas McCarver died after choking on food in his Florida home and was found unconscious by friend. He was 26. I believe this would be same guy. Said he was 6'1 and 300 lbs at age 21. He died at 26

Poor Dallas did die from choking on food. No update on rich that I've heard of which means nothing good! CT fletcher is also in need of a heart transplant. Our BB brothers not having a good year....
