Brothers, I could really use some help getting some of these veins to show. My stats right now are 42 years old 5'9" 238lbs and my bf% is around 9 right now and I seriously have very little vascularity unless i'm in the gym all pumped up! Any ideas?

Increase your water intake. Mine show more when I'm well hydrated.

I'd say more than likely your way higher than 9% bf. especially at your height and weight. If you can't see your abs all the way down past your belly button then your well over 10%. If you want you can email me a pic at fit.guru@ymail.com and I can tell you by looking where you really are.

That bf percentage is from the university being weighed in the pool a month ago and I was 241 and yes I can see all my abs and my diet is spot on. I will send you a pic fit when I get home.

Not to beat the horse or anything but i've been a titch lower bf% and still not vascular. A couple guys I train with have road maps for arms and they are way higher bf% like upwards of 20%. Maybe i'm screwed from the get go or just have a thick skin?

Lol! I'm afraid I'd I did that I'd be sporting a custom towel rack all day! I'm going to try what you said about hydrating. Honestly I don't drink much water.

I only say that from when I took a friend to the hospital. She was getting an IV and was dehydrated so it was hard. The nurse looked at my arms and said "Omg I can tell someone drinks plenty of water". So this is my assumption that good hydration will yield more vissable veins. As I was drinking well over a gallon a day during that time.

Hit local grocery store for a few gallons of Distilled water. Put away one jug a day and report back at the end of a week of that. :P

I was curious so I just ran a search and this was the first thing that popped up. My quick scan says that it could be genetics. The your blood vessels just lie deeper under the skin than others, or you carry a bit more subq fat/the fat just under the skin. I dont think the link I have is appropriate to post here so you have a PM.

Water will help, also greater blood volume, think Anadrol, EQ, also part genetic, I had the ability to get paper thin skin and my veins are large and right under my skin, the phlebotomist loved me.

I use Beta-Alanine and/or a good N.O. booster. I also try and drink a gallon or more of water every day. Currently Im not enhanced like some on here so that might also make a difference also. Sometimes I use Birch oil, you should be able to get that at a good health food store. It will make you smell like spearment but it works. One drop, no kidding, to one or two table spoons full baby oil pre-workout. It will be hot on your skin but the veins will pop out at this time, if they can.
Kaz is right the knowledge the people here have is just amazing!

Yea genetics plays a huge role but when I was 8-9% bf which is low I thought I just had small veins and thick skin. I was 2.75% my last show and I had veins that aren't on an anatomy chart. Tons of water and carbs or Zero. I woke up looking like a road map. My wife would not touch me at all. She said it felt like worms.

EQ will help open up those veins and give you the look you're hoping for. Personally when I'm lean and I want to look hard (grainy), veiny, and sexy as hell I take EQ, Masteron, and Proviron. But none of that matters if you're not very lean to begin with. You need to drink A LOT of water, like 2 gallons a day. If you're not drinking that much than you're not drinking enough. Massages also help bring in lines and help with increased vascularity.

LOL, my ex g/f used to love to play with mine, she loved pushing down on them, said she hadn;t ever been with a guy like me, she dated some wanna be bb's but they were just that wanna-be, my legs especially get like road maps, or at least they used too.

Takes time getting use to pounding the water. I usually consume a gallon by lunch time .

Its important to keep an accurate record. Dont guess! I put my water in a gallon jug (the gallon jug it comes in) Its rare that anyone guesses right. I also use a filter pitcher to filter my water. Ive seen the tap water put in a cup and left till it all evaporates away, I dont want to drink that stuff thats left in the cup when that happens. Anyway, find a way to accurately keep track of what you drink. Yes you will pee a lot more. Its just your body clenseing itself and getting used to the higher hydration level.

Here's the wiki on this topic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angiogenesis

Sounds like NO supplements help out with vascularity. AAS increase this also by boosting "VEGF" a hormone in control of vascular genesis. From this study, sounds like high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes and stress can inhibit this process.

http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/105/18/2133.full
To conclude, the study by Matsunaga et al provides more evidence that nitric oxide plays a critical role in angiogenesis. Certainly, VEGF can enhance endothelial regeneration, restore endothelial function, and stimulate angiogenesis. Aggressive treatment of comorbid conditions (eg, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, diabetes, and tobacco exposure) to restore endothelial function, however, may be just as important as the administration of gene therapies or recombinant angiogenic proteins in the success of therapeutic angiogenesis.

http://www.angio.org/understanding/growth.php
Above is a list of angiogensis inhibitors, maybe you are taking something on this list? Also notice HCG is on the list.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12514108
Marijuana is also an angiogenesis inhibitor if that's something you do

I buy 1 gallon Distilled Water jugs at the store for .87 cents each. Typically KO one by 2-3pm and then just fill it with tap water half way. The extra half gallon will last me through my workout till 8pm. Then I tip back on average 3-4 bottles of water before bed. Two with dinner and two after I get high >.>

Maybe try and get your hands on some prednisone if you want the veins to show more. It has a side effect of thinning the skin. If you have eve met someone on pregnisone that lifts... damn road maps everything on them!
