You have to use calipers. The scales and hand held some gyms use are a joke. I suggest everyone buy a cheap plastic set of calipers and do a 3 point test. Plenty of BF calculators onlinr

X2 always do a skin fold test, Roger would test me at 9 places, as Fit said the hand held things are a piece of shit.Even a cheap set of plastic calipers are much better.

Same here. Usually 6-8000 cals a day, no cardio, lots of junk food and I maintain weight with visible obliques.

I hear you Fit, I wrote a diet for one guy who said "I will do whatever it takes to get big" He took one look at it and said"you have to eat like this every day?' Yup...it didn't last long, 15 yrs of training and you can barely tell he works out at all, known several guys like that, LOL, one guy was terrified of getting to much protien, and he couldn't comphrehnd the act of eating 'by the clock' not your hunger level. He was a pussy anyway(32 and lived at home and had to eat what mom made), loads of gear, back covered with zits, bitch tits, and again you couldn't even tell he worked out. Why do you think there are so few really big guys, most people don't have the knowledge/drive/discipline it takes. It takes a lot more than 'lifting weights' a few times a week. I've tried to help guys, but anymore I don't say a word unless they ask, and even then I have to know their serious. I had a friend who wanted a diet, he wanted to get his bf down asap, so I put him on keto, spent 30 mins typing it out and then explaining it to him, 2 days later he calls and says he is going to do the 50/30/20 diet, I say ok, that's a good diet too. 2 weeks later he calls, "I need you to make a diet out for me" I finally got pissed and just said eat clean. He would ask the same questions 5-6 times in a conversation, then 2 days later call and ask the same shit again, I actually had to stop being friends/talking with him. He was driving me that crazy. I also hate when you take time and give people the best advice possible, then they completely ignore it...Anyway sorry for the rant...Good luck to all you guys, and listen when Fit tells you something, he knows his shit and it may go against what you have heard/believe, but so much bs goes around in gyms. Legends and old wives tales. Do as he says and give 100% at all times, day in day out, don't fool yourself thinking one extra potato or whatever here and there won't hurt, yes it will. Again that;s why there are so few big/ripped guys. Dante said he would get up and eat eggs and pancakes at 2 am every morning, he didn't miss a meal for 3 years, that's what kind of dedication it truly takes.

LOL. Sadly enough this sounds like me. Don't get me wrong, I lift hard and heavy, but I wasted many many years lifting wrong.....and I'm still small. I am making small progress and getting stronger but at a very slow rate.

True to all the above.when competing I had all natural peanut butter and whey protein out and ready to eat at 2 am. People have no idea what it takes to be a bodybuilder much less a successful bodybuilder.

Not a whole lot, but I was bloated from the night before. Normally my obliques are very visible. For supper the night before I ate 2 lbs of fried chicken, 1 lb of potato wedges, 3 Zingers, qt of milk and 6 cookies. All the sodium had me retaining a LOT of water.

I don't think everyone does, it's gonna be different for everybody's diet plan I'm sure.

I just hope my metabolism speeds up from cardio to be able to get that 5th real meal down my throat. So far I ain't used to it. Yesterday was weird, I felt like I was starving all day, today I feel content with all the food and then some. The cardio inflamed an old injury. I have a torn Meniscus that has never been repaired, and normally the Elliptical doesn't bother me. I can barely walk, so no cardio today, just going to heat pad this all day long, I can't have this messing up my ability to do Squats and Deads. Other than that off to a good start, hell I even lost 2 lbs. yesterday, and my weight never fluctuates.

I was about to say the same thing. My clavicle is not attached to my right shoulder but I have been training that way for 2 yrs.

Haha. It's just a set back on cardio today to give you fellas a head start, since you'll need it......I'm still going to beat ya both. LOL. Hey I have a grade 3 AC separation of my shoulder too and it never has hurt. Only screws with the symmetry a little in my traps. Have you guys already prepared yourselves mentally for 2nd, 3rd, or last place finishes. Hehehe.

Your shoulder doesn't mess with you? Mine snaps and pops and if I roll on my right side at night and stay there to long I wake up in pain from the bone stretching the skin.

It was a bad separation too....look at my pics you can see it on the right, which is my left shoulder, notice the difference in my little tiny traps. I wanted to get surgery on it and have it tied down when I was younger but they advised against it saying the bones could rub and cause some severe arthritis when I got older, so i took their advise.

What you guys forget. Especially on the outside looking in is when you get a diet off the Internet that's just it a single diet. When you have a coach things constantly change( or not) to suit your needs. BIG difference from just copy and pasting a cookie cutter diet!

What you guys forget. Especially on the outside looking in is when you get a diet off the Internet that's just it a single diet. When you have a coach things constantly change( or not) to suit your needs. BIG difference from just copy and pasting a cookie cutter diet!

Looks like my back is definitely tweaked bad. If you look at my pics you can see how far my hips are shifted to the right. Not good. And I just found out that I'm doing a two man deadlift competition for charity on January 5. Ughhhh. Gonna be a long couple weeks. Might have to take this whole week off training to heal up. Was gonna take it easy and try to train around the pain but I don't wanna risk it. Getting to be a part of this event is a pretty big deal.

All about the discipline I ate the same food for 4 months straight, get in a habit after a while and don't even miss the other stuff, at least I didn't, or maybe in a sick sense I like the pain of depriving myself...I got ripped, that was my goal.

So true, I would cook my food on Sundays' watching tv, had all my meats cooked and ready to go, if I was eating more carbs at the time, had a large bowl of rice made, also had a big container of salad I had mixed up, This is so foreign to some guys, they are unprepared and grab whatever they can at work. That's why you see so few big ripped guys, but to these idiots who won;t put the time in as far as kitchen/food work goes, 'it's only because he/she takes steroids' I love guys who say 'I will do whatever it takes to get big' then you tell them something as easy as cook up your own food and always carry it with you. There attitude suddenly changes. When I worked in a very busy night-club, I would be moving non-stop for hours, no time for breaks, I would go into the back room where I had bowls of oatmeal/protein powder/ and maybe a tablespoon of low sugar jam(pre- mixed). Get some water in it (non cooked) and basically drink it down with a few fish oil caps. If that is too hard for you maybe you should take up something else like ping-pong.

Hit abs hard yesterday, went to get up and got a cramp like I've never experienced... I went down to the floor and kind of rolled around I think people though I was having a heart attack... Took a good 10 minutes to breathe and let my body cool down... Never experienced that I was afraid people were going to freak out and call an ambulance or something

I'm the top trainer and contest prep Coach in my state. All my people win their classes or overalls. Last year I had 8 novice competitors win their class and 6 were natural.

Because of the issue you had I would say don't bother but since you feel you need to do them. Try hanging leg raises and other ab work besides crunches. I don't bother with abs because I hit them doing other stuff. Now If I was like 5% bf I would probably hit them a little.

Getting in that whole breakfast this week was difficult....this next week I'm going to allow for my time to make sure I can cook my eggs. Getting the oatmeal is no problem. I haven't done any cardio either. My biggest contributor to a 5 lb loss in 2 weeks, is NO MILK....I hate it!!!! I would like to at least be able to drink half a gallon of skim milk a day. :(

I buy egglands best boiled eggs in a bag. Each Bag has 6 eggs I buy 14 bags at a time $2.49 a bag. Yes more expensive but very convenient. I feel your pain on the milk I love whole milk normally drink half gallons day.

Idk what the hell happened last week but I lost a few lbs I weighted this morning and at 203 I was like wtf took out tape and haven't lost size but haven't grown.

This week was great for me as far as training goes.. I am not as sore any more and weights have gone up .. This coming week should be at 100 % well atleast thats how i am feeling.. I will post this week pics tommorow..

I am still far from needing a diet change .. I will first need to be going at 100 % before i need any type of dialing in...

I can tell who's used to dieting and who's not. People who get freaked out every time their weight fluctuates 1 lb usually take it into their own hands then really screw everything up and blame it on the diet. I see it all the time.

Ecto if you go back and read your post and the emails you've sent me you stated yourself at one point u hadnt been following the diet properly. Then you missed workouts. It's not the program that's going slow . Don't want to come off sounding harsh but when you ask others if the "program" is going slow you might want to look at your own first and WHY it might be! Hang in there.

I know where my problem is its this pos scale. Said 203 Friday this moring 210 or I have a massive dump on the way. Lol As far as my tape readings go I haven't gained or lost since last week. I'm curious could this screwed up sleep I'm getting be holding my gains back?

Shit i am just trying to get my old body moving again.. I now can train and not wake up in the morning so sore i cant even get out of bed..
Time to turn up the heat.. This is my third week back after being off for 3 months and i feel i am on course and moving foward with out injury...

I agree 100%. Milk is for children, no other mammal as an adult drinks milk, from their own species let alone another one. I think past the age of 3 or so we quit producing lactase, which enables our bodies to digest lactose.

I cut my cycle short after this flu... I wanted to finish this cycle strong but I think ultimately my body needs a rest... I'm going to rely on good diet and hard work to bring tears to your eyes.... Gonna give it a good month or two try to get wife pregnant then focus on another cycle... I got crazy gains on this cycle up like 20+ lbs at one point... Going to try my hardest to stay in the 170 area and next cycle try to make that jump to 180 were I want to b...

Man, I have turned into a pussy. The Bulgarian split squats whipped my ass, and it was weak with lightweight. Really need to work these wheels. I am so used to nothing but compund movements and my quads are weak, so the unilateral work is brutal, but damn i love the burn.

okay, so i went to Myfitnesspal, and logged my food I ate today. HOLY SHIT!!!! I am undereating. I don't see how the pounds aren't just flying off of me. I'm only eating 2100 calories a day, which is 239g of protein, 160g carbs, 64g fat. No wonder I never get big. I mean sure I can drink half a gallon of milk like I used to get the cals up to 3000 in no time but, i cut my milk out. I need to eat more carbs I guess. Man I feel like a total NOOB!!! I try to follow FitGuru plan, but just don't have time to eat like that.

This article always keeps me grounded, except for doing gear, which, even though I am Low T and only doing TRT, I probably shouldn't do that either. Not good at my age. Very true Fit..It's not something you can do an hour a day and forget about, It takes lots of planning and time. I used to always carry my meals wherever I went. If I was in a hurry at work I'd gulp down raw oats, mixed with protein powder and water, and take some fish oil for efa..Guys don't realize how much it takes, and when they do their statement of "I will do anything to get big " goes to shit. It's so much more than sticking your self in the ass and lifting weights for an hour.

I sat down today and reset my goals for this coming year. I do want to get big, but it is going to take me no less than 3 or 4 years to maybe look like I at least go to the gym and consider myself an intermediate lifter. So it's back to Starting Strength followed by Madcow 5x5 for this year and maybe next. I would just be happy with looking like a powerlifter, i don't have to be a Frank Zane, and i don't lift like that anyway. I should see some nice results this year, if I just take her slow and steady, and just be patient, looking forward to the journey :)

It's really hard to watch and gauge and change people's diets when they don't follow them in the first place. Think about something. If you don't know enough about nutrition in the first place and a veteran trainer who has trained hundreds of competitors puts u on a diet then you take it into your own hands to change the diet because "muscular development" or "flex" said do it another way, u are going to fail every time. I can tell u 1 thing NOONE in the bodybuilding world I know of drinks milk! None! It wasn't til I came on the forums did I see people who just had to have their milk.dont over think this shit. And I hope to shoot u another diet by tonight!

Agree again as usual Fit, it's a big change for people, I agree with Milk as well, I had one guy try to tell my peanut-butter was a good source of protein..How can a food that is around 14% protein be called 'a good source'??? that;s the ignorance you have to battle with..Btw peanut-butter is a great FAT source, I mix 2 tbs with my night protein shake for added fat and slow the absorption.

Peanut butter has its place but I wouldn't say that it's a good protein source. I also love milk too though... Especially chocolate milk... I haven't been drinking much lately though trying to follow diet I'm not even using it in my shakes anymore

Omg I just told my wife that"chocolate milk in protein shakes" she died laughing!!!!! She said "now I'd do that"!!! I couldn't imagine doing that.lol...I can't imagine using 2% milk.noone does that!!NO ONE!!!!not in the fitness world anyway!!!!!!hell I'd drink 29 shakes a day!!! Lol
