well 3 years ago I finally bought.. paid for points and got 4.62% who knew it would go down from there. Anyhow been debating for a while and finally my credit union gave a different option in a 20 year.. for some unknown reason a 20 year is usually the almost the same rate as a 30 and if you go to 15 it drops significantly .. So when they had a 20 at 3.25 .. I jumped .. that basically meant the same payment just 7 years off.. just pay the closing cost .. and fees. Last week I filled out on line and they locked me in..good thing too it went up Monday to 3.625 .
Anyhow I get home Monday and my phone logs numbers that I don't answer.. no messages on the machine just 15 calls .. and as I am going through the list of calls the phone rings and it is one of the callers.. I pick it up out of curiosity..
the person on the line say " I see that you are looking at refinancing ..thinking it is my CU I continue.. OK we are going to ask some questions ... no SSN , huh? they have that
confirms some basic data.. and then says , let me hand you to a mortgage specialist..
what kind of mortgage are you looking at ...
I ask at this point ,"wait are you from ( credit union name)..Ahh no ... I am from ( mortgage company) we are looking to offer you options .. hmm well that is going to be difficult since I already don't trust you and don't know who the hell you are ..
I am sorry we didn't clarify that at first.. yadda yadda .. and told me who he was and etc..
How did you happen to call me?.. well the credit company pulls names that are looking for a new mortgage and sends them to me .Wow that is a slight invasion of privacy. I wonder what other reports the credit companies are sharing with sales men..
Well to get him off the phone I asked.. I am looking for a 20 no points ,what is your rate.. and closing cost .. 3.75 and that was with points so that goes higher ..he was not even close.. I told him that ..and when I told him what I have .. I knew that would be the last call from him any way.. So for last couple days I have been picking up the phone with strange numbers and answering 20 year fix no points what you got... :)
when it comes to salesman the only way to get rid of them is to prove they have no hope at all...
this does explain the Car ads increasing as my Jeep hits the 7 year mark.. I am sure they are pulling a credit report for that .
