Very sad news. Was amazed to find out that he was 93 years old.

No...this is sad...he is the founder of what BB is today....I take my hat off to him...he has done many good things for this sport

He is getting slammed on a lot of BB sites which is BS!! If it weren't a Joe Weider there wouldn't be bodybuilding!!! Period!!

Without Joe there would be no Arnold. Remember he was the one who brought Arnold to the USA. Thats just one thing he did. He will be missed!

There is no doubt that he and his brother did A LOT to create the industry but I also believe he exploited the athletes that helped build his empire.

image in 1936 ..fresh out of the great depression when things just starting to get moving... he proposes the idea of muscle building and comparison for a sport ..I mean think of how frugal people were after 6 years of cutting corners, we are not talking the cutting corners we do today...we are talking unemployed without unemployment for years ..
.. can you image the audacity of the idea .. of eating a lot of food and building muscle ..

regardless of what you think of the guy.. he started something.. in a time when he probably face a lot of flack for it ...
