These fucking rats or mice keep trying to get into my chicken feed that's in a plastic trash can. They are eating through the lids!

I've tried conventional mouse traps that snap closed, these plastic ones they climb into and close behind them.

I even made a 5 gallon bucket spin trap.
No dice!
These fuckers are smart!

I told the wife I'm about ready to take the day off work and sit out all day with my pellet gun. I will win....just haven't seen them!

I don't wanna use poison because of the chickens, dog and kids.

Any ideas??

Ok now I know of how to help this but I love to learn new things. I came across this cause my first thought was "there has to be an oil that will help"? Take a look at this and maybe you will find a remedy but it looks like oils would hurts the chickens

I learned something, years ago, when I was doing hair. One of the older Polish ladies, who was a big gardener, used to take the hair we cut and disperse around her garden. she said it kept the rabbits away and it didn't harm her flowers or veggies. that's worth a shot? It may sound like a weird request at the salon but she used to bag it up and take it home

Lmfao! Yeah I'm cool with my hairdresser. She will think it's funny. I'll try that.

Also tried dryer fabric softener sheets tapes to the food bins. Apparently this brand smells fine to them lol.

Got it!!!
Wife heard commotion outside when we were watching tv tonight. It sounded like one of the mouse traps I had set.

It was! The bastard tripped the trap and took off. Sure enough there the ugly fucker was right by the side of the chicken coop!! I spot lighted it and it just sat there. Right by the mouse trap is a brick to hold the lid down. Picked up the brick and knew right as I thew it...Bullseye!
Blamo! Guido style won in the end.
" how about I throw a brick at ya head huh?"

I won't lie I was looking forward to getting hair from my hairdresser and wrapping the chicken food container like a huge chia head lmao!
