  • snow on the ground...

I have posrted a couple of comments on here about no place to put the snow..in Boston
let me give you a little picture to show you what I mean
below is my leave picture from the fall showing about 1/2 the leaves I raked, it shows the retaining walll
where the grey barrel is about where the shovel is in the snow picture and where snow bank begins.. the shovel is also about 5 ft tall
the snow bank is about 9 ft wide by 6 or 7 ft high and the length of my front yard
yes this is about 4-5 ft into the street ( I now have a 2 car driveway)!
I complain about my back and knee , but truth be told I am great full I healthy enough that I can do the shoveling and raking...
there is another snow storm Thursday

That's nuts it's 70's by me. I fear this summer is going to be insane 120 degrees this yr.

Crazy how polar opposites our climates are!
Blah blah blah Latina's ass...blah blah blah!

Yep. It's going to be in the mid 60's again today here in the south. We have a mild cold front blowing thru tomorrow, then warm back up close to 70 for the weekend and early part of next week. I agree, I think we're going to have one heck of a summer.

                Re: snow on the ground...

OK not much melting this week...and now we have another 12-18 inches this weekend
So this afternoon I moved the packed stuff out of the driveway and down the street about 15 ft.. so I am prepared for the weekend
where everything is justed packed power , it was pretty easy to chop up in to big 1.5 ft cubes and move it ... but still it was a great sholder workout

oh sudden 60's not that cold huh BH

single digits tomorow and 25 mile gust so wind chill in some places around 20 below
you know it is funny ....yesterday was 20 above and we are so used to it , that it felt kind of warm ...
that and shoveling snow s a good workout .... I was out there in a hoodie

                      Re: snow on the ground...

Had a new adventure this morning.... Shoveling the roof... a 7 drift was over my porch and finally supposed to get a little warmer and start melting..only problem is that compacts the snow ... a lot of roofs collapsing aropund here .. then again a flat roof in NE is just plain stupid IMHO
funny seeing a snow blower on a roof ... but if it is flat and large ..makes sense..

it is strange ... I have gotten top the point where Shoveling Snow is no big deal...
just like running on the tread mill or something...another aerobic activity
I shoveled that mount on the roof and I wasn't even huffing or puffin..
although getting the ladder into palce was a bear

Yeah, I remember one year we had a very bad ice storm and it coated the driveway and sidewalk with a thick layer of ice. My wife and I were out there for hours chipping away at the ice to get it to break apart. That was our workout for the day! By the end of the day our shoulders and arms were so sore; we could hardly move. Luckily a neighbor came by with a couple bags of de-icer and finished it off. We owed him a steak dinner after that! lol!

                              Re: snow on the ground...

I think Ice storms are worse than snow... I mean snow is slippery...but nothing compred to ice with a little rain on top of it ...
and Snow falls off the power lines...where as ice clings to it and cause outages...
an inch of ice is more destructive than 2 ft of snow ... snow you can just shovel....ice takes an axe
supposed to be in the 30's Sunday...get some melting done..we need a slow melt for this amout of snow....
a good rain storm and we are screwed ..all that weight on the roofs, flooding because of blocked up drains ...and how mny drains are not dug out
if it is slow , the melt drains down and forms it's own drainage by itself ...but a quick rain... build an arc
