I don't have cable either... they pissed me off last year ..( wanted to raise my bill by about 25% FU)
I got a tuner card for an old computer and use that to record ( with a remote and everything)
can record 2 channels and fast forward through commercials..
granted I get great antenna reception...
hulu for back up.
oK I miss sports ..they are all on cable. except Football

with windows 7 , there is a program call media center...
get a video capture board , plugin, install driver . and when it asks you want to install application or just driver
install the driver. window media center does the rest
scan for channels , then media center downloads a local tv guide good for 2 weeks and updates automatically
get a video card with 2 tuners works best ...
if you are not that technical or don't have a old PC they sell OTA ( over the air) tivo
but the subscription is rather steep at $15 a month... if you plan on staying OTA then get the one with life time subscription for $200-250
another real cheap option is one of those converter boxes that record... the tv guide sucks
but at $30-40 they are a bargain
get a usb stick and record enough for a week or a usb hard drive and record 500 hours , like the old vhs days from 8 -9 on mondays
Lol not too bad. I have a few pcs laying around. I'll pick your brain more when I have time to tear into them.
I wasn't on much today worked 7-7:30 today mixed between 2 different locations while covering for my boss as well. Long day. Hanging with the family and my buddy Sam Adams......I blew the doors off what turned out to be a customer on my way to the 2nd location so it was a good day! Walked him hardcore. Made my day!
well if you are comfortable installing a video card ..you should be able to handle it
funny just as cord cutting is catching on , Microsoft is no longer supporting Media Center
they didn't ship it with 8 and it not supported with 10
there is a web site that has instructions for a hacked version to work on 10 ..I have been
meaning to try
media center is not being replaced ....
it is a really stable program too.... I have it running for weeks without reboot
as a result I have a computer that I will not be upgrading
well there is a application that comes with the video card, however that interface just doesnt flow as well...
you connect to a tvguide on the web ( with a lot of ads) and it doesn't work as well with the remote..
I will have to try the version that was modified for windows 10.. I saw a few notes from users implying it worked like a champ
I realize when it was released with Windows 7 ,media center didn't catch on, but with cable companies
reporting 15-20% drops in subscriptions you would think that Microsoft would wake up and realize they
had a great product for this movement .. there is a petition to at least release it as an application for windows 10 .
The only thing Microsoft has done is not stop the hacked version that works on 10.. that actually is an amazing
they are usually very protective of their software ..even software they have declared dead
Microsoft is supporting windows 7 until 2020.so I have time ..
I haven't watched the show in years but I'm happy their basing a character on Alex Jones, I live here in Austin where Alex broadcasts from. Most people think he's crazy but they haven't listened to him fortunately for me I had researched all the stuff he talks about and found it to be true. First time you may not believe what he says but just hold on, he will provide documents, video, books, guests, etc..to back up what he is saying. Best place to get the real news besides Drudge Report. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GX9UtYgGX-Y
